The major difference is that the bag gloves are created simply to cover the hands, while the sparring gloves shield your partner. I had an injury when I was 10 and played boxing my physical therapist in lake forest CA told me that I got the injury because of not wearing sparring gloves while playing the boxing game.

Bag gloves have less padding than the gloves used in actual fight. Bag gloves should be used solely for punching boxing pads and gloves and should not be used during sparring to avoid hurting your sparring partner. Bag gloves also tend to be smaller and lighter.

Meanwhile, fight boxing gloves, as the term suggests, are used for sparring and training. They are more padded and therefore are larger.

There’s one thing that these gloves have in common though – wrist wraps. Both types of gloves should include a full wrist wrap to protect your hands, fingers, and wrists from injury.

Make sure you don’t mix up the two and purchase the right set of gloves for whatever activity you’re using it for. To learn more about choosing your boxing gloves, visit Punch Equipment.
