Heat recovery ventilation or HRV is a mechanical ventilation system that is designed to continuously draw in fresh air from the outside. It’s also known as MVHR, or mechanical ventilation heat recovery. This type of ventilation system uses heat and air exchangers to reduce energy consumption and improve air handling efficiency within the building.
HRV systems limit heat infiltration and reduce temperature variations between rooms to make the indoor atmosphere more pleasant. They also remove stale, moist air from wet rooms like kitchens, utility rooms, and bathrooms, and use the heat from the outgoing stale air to temper the incoming fresh air. If you really want to know more about HRV systems or how heat recovery ventilation works, I suggest you talk to an air conditioning or HVAC systems expert. I only learned what I know from my uncle, who works at a UK-based heating and air conditioning company called BRAC Engineers Limited.
