I think this shouldn’t be a problem. Just be careful with while filling and when it breaks or something.

A lot of people will tell you that ponds and children don’t go well together, and I agree in some regards. When children are young and keen to explore, accidents happen and if you have a 6ft deep pond in your garden, accidents can be more serious.

However, having children doesn’t mean you need to get rid of your fish and fill in your pond as there are a lot of other options for ensuring that your children are safe when out in the garden. When I had children, I bought a diamond deck safety grid online. This is essentially a robust pond covers that allows you to feed the fish and maintain the pond through the gaps but still ensures that no one can fall beneath the surface of the water. They are extremely strong and can hold adult weight, so if a child were to fall, it would be no deeper than them splashing in a puddle.
