Not everyone is comfortable talking about steroids. That’s because most people have limited knowledge of what it really is and what it does and doesn’t do. A lot of people tend to simplify and limit their thinking and simply consider steroids as this thing that makes muscles grow faster, or this substance that could harm one’s health.
But there’s a science behind steroids and the key to understanding more about steroids is to first have an understanding of what they are. Anabolic steroids or anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are synthetic derivatives of testosterone which is a hormone naturally produced in the body.  AAS produces these main effects: 1) the androgenic effect wherein AAS promotes the growth of typically male characteristics of puberty, and 2) anabolic effect where AAS promotes muscle growth.
AAS can help patients suffering from AIDS, cancer, and other diseases that attack or weaken the human body. AAS, when prescribed legally, can also help patients with very low levels of testosterone. For athletes, legal steroids promote and speeds up the body’s process of building muscles.
