How do I win at poker with bad cards?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t always need to have good cards to win at poker. Even a player who has been dealt with bad cards all night can still come home a winner with good strategy.

Bluffing is one of the skills that you need to master. Essentially, bluffing refers to playing a weak hand as if it were strong. The key here is to make your opponents believe that you have a good hand to scare them into folding.

Another strategy is semi-bluffing. In semi-bluffing, you might have a bad set of cards to begin with, but there’s a reasonable chance for it to turn out the best hand later in the game (such as your cards forming a flush later).

It takes a lot of practice and good people-reading skills. You’d never want your opponent to call your bluff, so timing is essential. Do it at the right moments and don’t do it very often or your opponents might pick up on your strategy.
