I used to be a really bad reader. I just couldn’t finish a book. However, there are a few techniques I’ve used to help me read more consistently. Firstly, I’ve made it part of my daily schedule. Each week, I have a timetable of all the tasks I need to complete and when I’ll work on them. I simply made reading one of these tasks and set aside an hour a day to get it done. I now finish dozens of books a year.
Choose books that excite you and it won’t be that difficult to enjoy the time spent reading it. Join book groups, talk to other people who have read the book, and share the experience. This is another way I’ve drastically increased my reading time. Once you make reading a habit and an integral part of your life, then it just becomes second nature. You’ll naturally find yourself reading more and even asking for book recommendations. Eventually you may even decide to self-publish your own book. The process is quite simple, as you can see here: https://books.org/blog/selfpublishing/.
