First of all, regardless of where you do it, a workout is a workout. Ideally, the answer to that question is yes, you can lose weight by working out at home. How? If you have the money, you can invest in an exercise machine like a treadmill or an exercise bike. Another way is by watching workout videos. You can buy DVDs or simply go online and you’ll find tons of workout videos you can try at home, most won’t even require a yoga mat or a set of weights and dumbbells. If you do have weights, you can incorporate strength training with cardio – which can be simple jump rope session in your backyard. If you’re the flexible type, there’s always yoga.
They ALL work, if you do the right workout combinations at the right intensity, and make sure you’re following a healthy diet. In essence, weight loss is burning more calories than you consume so if you do the math right, and if you follow your diet and workout, you can lose weight even at home. Home workouts remain a popular option among those who simply don’t have time to go to the gym, or those who already have the equipment they need at home. These days, you can simply look up fitness channels on YouTube and follow their workouts—and a great number of these workouts are free and won’t require you to have fancy equipment.

Now before you toss out the idea of going to the gym, do consider these things:

  1. The gym provides the perfect environment for you to be able to concentrate on your workout. An in-home setting means you’re likely to be easily distracted by errands or things that come up while you’re working out.
  2. With a gym membership, you get access to gym equipment. You may already have a treadmill at home, but there are plenty of other fitness machines that can help you achieve your fitness goals.
  3. Gyms also offer classes that you can take advantage of! CoreTheGym, for example, is a gym in Maidstone that offers Circuits, HIIT & Abs, Weightlifting, and many other classes throughout the week.
