To be honest, steering conversion can be very expensive. You’d be lucky to spend a few thousands if you can find a wrecked left-hand drive version of your car, just to salvage it for parts. If you can’t, then the cost of converting from right-hand to left-hand drive can easily exceed the cost of a new car.

Many countries allow right-hand drive vehicles on their roads, so if that’s your situation a conversion is not even necessary. But if you’re keen on converting to a left-hand drive, make sure you have deep pockets. I once inherited a left-hand drive car from my dad, and I remember having to convert it to a right-hand drive before I started taking driving lessons in Croydon, where I grew up. It cost me a fortune, sure, but at least I had something from my dad to remember him by after he passed away in 2002. But I digress. Bottom-line is: forget about converting, sell the car in the UK, and get yourself a new left-hand drive vehicle.
