Qatar’s business week different from that of United Kingdom’s or America’s..

Most countries in the world, the United States and the United Kingdom included, follow the Monday-Friday work week. But in Qatar, the working week begins on Sunday and ends on Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays are usually regarded as weekly days off or holidays. Aside from its working week, another interesting feature of Qatar’s work culture is the daily work schedule. Government offices, for example, work between 6 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Commercial offices on the other hand often follow a system where employees work in two shifts, the first from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon, and the second shift from 3:30 in the afternoon until 7:30 at night.

Being a predominantly Muslim country, the working hours in Qatar become shorter during Ramadan. If you’re from a country outside Qatar and you want to know more about the country’s business ethics and how you can better conduct yourself and your company before your Qatari counterparts, take advantage of the Cross Cultural Seminars provided by Handshaikh.
